Every now and then when I get a scenario that relies on dialogue I often have to work a bit of magic to try and make something from the materials available to me. It’s all about timing and the selection of takes and reaction shots etc. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t dream of passing judgement on a non native English speaker’s command of latent letters or phrasal verbs, in the end of the day they can speak English a fuck of a lot better than I can speak Czech or Italian so respect is due.
When Alexis whispers in John’s ear I intentionally left the dialogue almost inaudible, masked by the emotive music, I thought I’d leave it up to you to imagine what the one thing is that he can do to make it up to her, it’s a bit more mysterious, it’s just like the end of Lost In Translation isn’t it?
