A bit of music always lubricates the opening of a scene, especially one like this: The classic sexy dace. Imagine it without. It’s a bit weird right? Hard to get into it and not just wonder what she’s thinking. That’s what they have to do on set, the performers, I can only imagine what that’s like, and that’s also what I have to do when I’m editing. I don’t really notice it so much when actually editing,
I’m just focused on continuity or trying create a good rhythm or whatever, but when I watch the scene through as a QC I do so without any music and this stuff stands out to me. Likewise the energy of a scene, sometimes it seems fine and typical as you are editing, you are focused on the detail. Then you check it and realise (like with this one) it’s not the liveliest sex ever. It could do with the energy turned up a few notches this one, she seems to have subdued more than seduced with her magic dance.
