OK, vertical video. Right. Let’s see if I can discuss this without sounding like an ageing luddite… The problem with vertical video which we didn’t have in my day, when things were better and you could leave your front door open, is that playback mechanisms on world wide webpages are still horizontal. Until this changes, which it hopefully won’t, (see previous sentence re. things being better) shooting vertical makes zero sense if you intend to release such a video on the information super highway, like Hayli Sanders here. Fine if you want to keep it on your telephone and share it with a few friends, that’s great, what you do in the privacy of your own portable device is up to you. Maybe you want to publish it as one of these new Instant-gram tales they have now. That’s ok too.
But don’t torment us by allowing your video to be rotated and miniaturised if I have a momentary lapse of critical reasoning and decide to watch it on my smartphone.
