I’m not 100% sure what is happening in the set-up here but it’s not the first time. What I am sure about is the cameraman’s commitment to shooting this scene in an interesting and unusual style, unless I am mistaken he’s gone fully in the water. He could be anywhere from waist to chest deep depending on the depth of the pool.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, years ago while I was a soundman I followed my cameraman into the sea without hesitation because the idea of using an on-camera mic rather than the boom pole was anathema to us. We did get a fantastic shot in the end but I think we both questioned our sanity and dedication in the moments during and after.
